Erin Tonda is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Law and holds an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University. Erin began her legal career as a tax attorney and then moved on to become an Assistant Prosecutor with the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office, where she handled a high volume of criminal and traffic-related matters.

During her time as a prosecutor, Erin reviewed driving records, prior offenses, and compliance histories, drafted legal filings and motions, and worked directly with individuals navigating the criminal justice system. She has been licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan since 2008.

OVERVIEW

Erin brings a unique combination of criminal law experience, client advocacy, and organizational leadership to Hills At Law.

As an Assistant Prosecutor in Kalamazoo County, Erin handled criminal and traffic matters and developed an understanding of how the loss of driving privileges can affect nearly every part of a person’s life—from getting to work to supporting a family and maintaining independence. That experience led to a particular interest in helping clients navigate Michigan’s driver’s license restoration process.

Erin’s career has also given her extensive experience helping people through difficult and uncertain situations. As a Victim/Survivor Navigator with the Battle Creek Community Foundation, she directed a $1.5 million grant supporting victims and survivors of two mass tragedies in Kalamazoo. She later spent several years in leadership with R3 Continuum, a nationwide behavioral health organization, ultimately serving as Vice President of Business Development.

Across each of these roles, Erin has developed a reputation for careful preparation, clear communication, and helping people understand complicated processes and what comes next.

Erin is also a Certified Trainer in Trauma-Informed Practices, an experience that complements her client-centered approach to practicing law.
